PRAGYA SANDESH – 21st Century, Bright Future
(A weekly periodical by All World Gayatri Pariwar Youth Group, Bangalore Branch)
www.awgp.org
Objective of the Periodical: The root causes of the ailing state of the world today are – the crisis of faith, people’s ignorance of the powers of the inner self, and the lack of righteous attitude. These have evaporated the oceans of joy from people’s life and polluted them with ever increasing insecurities, infirmities and complexities. Realizing the hidden power of thoughts is very important in the present era of intellectual evolution. This periodical will serve as a vehicle for thought transformation for the revival of Satyug - the divine era.
Upakhyan (Anecdote)

Father eagle got his child seated on his back and carried him to another place. Both pecked around the whole day and returned home in the evening. Father eagle continued carrying the eaglet on his back for several days but the eaglet did not care to learn flying. The eaglet thought why should he trouble himself and learn to fly when he can fly on his father's back. Father eagle continued watching carefully this laziness and dependence of the eaglet and finally decided that it was time to teach his child a lesson. One day when he was flying in the sky with the eaglet on his back, he drew back his wings and went into a steep dive. The eaglet was  thrown off his back and began to fall. The fall shook up the eaglet and he desperately began to flutter his wings. He barely saved himself from crashing on to the ground. With this incident he understood the dire need of flying. In the evening the eaglet told his mother, “Mother, had I not fluttered my wings father would have had me killed.” Mother eagle laughed and said, “My son, this is the only method to teach those who do not willingly learn to become self-reliant.”

Marmik Kathayen (Stories that touch our hearts)

"How Will I Face Him?"

A big battle had broken out between Russians and Japanese in the early twentieth century. General Kodama was lead the Japanese Army. One early morning all looked peaceful except sporadic firing. Japanese soldiers were taking a short rest. General Kodama was taking breakfast in his tent. Sensing opportunity Russians launched a massive attack on the Japanese camp. With large scale bombings it was all smoke and dust everywhere and Japanese were stunned with this surprise attack and did not know what to do.

General Kodama commanded with a loud voice and asked Japanese soldiers to get ready to wage battle. The soldiers got very inspired seeing their commander addressing them at this occasion. General's presence gave a big boost to their commitment. In a kingdom that is reigned by dutiful and sincere kings, the subjects at large are also devoted to their duties. In a organization that has devoted and honest officers, all the subordinates are also sincere. Similar situation unfolded in this battlefield as well. Finding their brave leader with them, the soldiers had no fear of death. Counterattack was enraged by Japanese and a fierce battle ensued.

Colleagues of General Kodama however, soon realized that they all were badly surrounded by Russians and no one was likely to escape safe and alive. They decided to build an escape route for the General by raising smoke walls and requested the General to use the same to get away.

General retorted with full determination, "How is this possible? I cannot run away to safeguard my life leaving aside my soldiers to die helplessly. If I am not with them they will be totally disheartened.

"How will I face Him with the blame that I relinquished my assignment and my duties to save my life? My dear colleagues, avoiding of any assigned task, howsoever big or small it may be, to me is irreverence to God and his instructions. I cannot waver even an inch from my assignment.

"My fellow countrymen have entrusted me such an esteemed task seeing my capabilities and dutifulness. Then how can I betray God and my countrymen? Go and resume your positions. This is no time to talk but to face our enemy."

Who would dare to disobey the General? Devotedly all took their respective positions. It was a well fought-out battle and Japanese won finally. Undoubtedly, like Japan any country will flourish and will always be safe, where there are alert and devoted countrymen full of honesty and truthfulness.
