(A weekly periodical by All World Gayatri Pariwar Youth Group, Bangalore Branch) www.awgp.org |
|
| Objective of the Periodical: | The root causes of the ailing state of the world today are – the crisis of faith, people’s ignorance of the powers of the inner self, and the lack of righteous attitude. These have evaporated the oceans of joy from people’s life and polluted them with ever increasing insecurities, infirmities and complexities. Realizing the hidden power of thoughts is very important in the present era of intellectual evolution. This periodical will serve as a vehicle for thought transformation for the revival of Satyug - the divine era. |
| Upakhyan (Anecdote) |
Young Saint Francis himself nursed a leper, gave him clothes an helped him monetarily for treatment. He sold out many bundles of cloth from his shop and also his horse. He donated all the money that was earned for the repair of the church. When his father heard of all this, he beat him and severely reprimanded him. He threatened to dislodge him from all his rights to inheritance of ancestral property. Francis was pleased to hear that his father may not let him inherit any of his wealth. He willingly relinquished all his rights ad told his father - "You have released me from a great attachment. I am very happy to get away from your property which I cannot utilize with selflessness to help the needy and for welfare of the people." He even gave away the clothes that his father had given him. It is quite in order to break the ties that become a hindrance to the cause of serving others.

| Marmik Kathayen (Stories that touch our hearts) |
Duty is a Reward in Itself Many people were gathered near the Courtroom Building in the town of Bulandshahar and there was a great commotion. People were shouting and watching aghast a boy getting electrocuted at an electric pole outside the building. He was trembling and the electric current flowing through him was about to kill him. Nobody from the crowd came forward to help him or used any wisdom or courage to save him. People knew that anyone who would rescue the child could get electrocuted himself. None wanted to risk his life. Constable Banwarilal Sharma of Dadri police station had come to the court for some official work. He was also aghast to see the boy dying of electrocution and felt compelled at heart to save him. He very well knew how risky it is trying to save the boy but he was overcome with great mercy for him and could not afford to be just an onlooker of the oncoming tragedy. He gathered courage and threw himself on the boy and pushed him off the pole using his body. The boy fell to the ground duly saved and Shri Sharma also fell along with him. Though he suffered bruises and minor injuries he had a great satisfaction of having saved the boy from certain death. Shri Sharma felt great satisfaction and joy in heart the whole day. Such is the enormity of wealth of happiness of the inner soul in having compassion for others and to serve others. No amount of worldly affluence can anywhere compare with this wealth of soul. Shri Sharma experienced and enjoyed the same joy. People later enquired whether he was rewarded in any way for his brave act by the parents of the boy or anyone else. Shri Sharma replied, "Oh brothers! By asking this do not dishonour the feeling of dutifulness. It is the spiritual duty of everyone to assist and rescue the helpless in trouble selflessly and not for any returns." Everyone was all praise for Constable Banwarilal Sharma for his brave deed and selflessness.
