PRAGYA SANDESH –
21st Century, Bright Future |
|
Objective of the Periodical: |
The root causes of the ailing state of the world today are – the crisis of faith, people’s ignorance of the powers of the inner self, and the lack of righteous attitude. These have evaporated the oceans of joy from people’s life and polluted them with ever increasing insecurities, infirmities and complexities. Realizing the hidden power of thoughts is very important in the present era of intellectual evolution. This periodical will serve as a vehicle for thought transformation for the revival of Satyug - the divine era. |

UPAKHYAN (Anecdote): Rajendra Prasad had taken admission in the renowned Presidency College of Kolkata. He was simplicity personified. On his first day
in the college, he was clad in dhoti, high-neck coat and cap. Other students
were wearing English attire. They made fun of Rajendra
Prasad’s rustic appearance and behaved as if this ‘Johnny come
lately’ did not belong there. When the teacher came into the class and the
round of introduction was made, all were for surprise including Rajendra Prasad. Rajendra Babu was surprised because contrary to his
expectation, all the students were found to be native Indians, not
Anglo-Indians; the other students were surprised because the fellow whom they
had been mocking at as a country bumpkin turned out to be the university
topper of that year. The students were now amazed to see this sparkling
talent hidden beneath such native simplicity. They were ashamed of their
behavior and never made fun of him again. The same Rajendra
Prasad later rose to be the president of Conclusion: Many of us are in illusion that personality is defined by physical appearance only. The inner traits & values form the core of the personality.

SADVICHAR (Thoughts for Contemplation) Study of Good Literature: An Essential Daily Need (Part II of II) (In the first part we read that environment has profound influence on the development of one's personality. True ascent of man is in adopting purified way of thinking and this is possible if such an environment can be created around him. Company of wise, enlightened men fulfills this aim, but that is not practical in today's world. Now read further ...) The second method is more convenient. Through self-study it is possible to surround the mind for long periods with an environment which gives us light to live an eminent and superior life. This way we can take advantage of being in the company of great men who excelled in their lives, at our convenience and for as much time as we desire. Importance of books is immeasurable. Good books are not so expensive but the influence they can have in moulding lives is simply invaluable. Books have been responsible in creating great personalities of high character, and providing mental strength. Through His spoken word, Lord Krishna could mould just the life of Arjuna, but Gita the book has influenced lives of millions of people. The circumstances of today are such that they encourage and spur people to adopt unfair means and polluted thoughts all the time. Daily we take bath, wash clothes, brush up teeth and dust up the house to wipe out the dirt that keeps accumulating all the time. Likewise it is necessary to study good literature regularly to clean up the dirt of impurities that are cast upon our minds by today’s environment. Self-study should be done daily as a part of routine like the acts of eating or wearing clothes. It should be inculcated as a daily habit. Literature for self-study also needs to be chosen carefully. The chosen literature should be able to provide practical methods to purify one’s thoughts, actions and nature, and provide logical solutions to modern day problems. Time and again thinkers, seers and philosophers have appeared and provided guidance appropriate for the prevalent times. As conditions and situations change messengers appear repeatedly to provide new messages. What was true once may not be true or relevant today. Gayatri Pariwar has collated very high quality literature from the past and also created new literature which is relevant to modern times through great intellectual effort. This literature is relatively inexpensive but its importance is manifold. We urge all to take up a sincere study of this literature and make it a habit to read a few pages of it at least everyday. The literature has a lot of variety to suit everyone’s taste as well. |
