PRAGYA SANDESH – 21st Century, Bright Future
(A weekly periodical by All World Gayatri Pariwar Youth Group, Bangalore Branch)
www.awgp.org
Objective of the Periodical: The root causes of the ailing state of the world today are – the crisis of faith, people’s ignorance of the powers of the inner self, and the lack of righteous attitude. These have evaporated the oceans of joy from people’s life and polluted them with ever increasing insecurities, infirmities and complexities. Realizing the hidden power of thoughts is very important in the present era of intellectual evolution. This periodical will serve as a vehicle for thought transformation for the revival of Satyug - the divine era.

SATSANKALP (Divine resolve 10):
There are 18 satsankalp. As per Pt. Shriram Sharma Acharya they correspond to 18 chapters of GEETA. We learnt about the ninth in the last edition. Given below is the tenth of eighteen.

Manushya Ke Mulyankan Ki Kasauti Uski safaltaaon, Yogyataaon Avum Vibhuteeon Ko Nahin; Uske Sadvichaaron Aur Satkarmo Ko Maanenge

Meaning: We will never evaluate a person's greatness by his worldly success, talents and riches but by his righteous conduct and thought.

Upakhyan (Anecdote 1):

A beautiful woman once made an amorous entreaty to king Chhatrasal that she wanted to beget a son like him. The king touched her feet and said: “From today, I am your son”. For his high esteem for women and sparkling character, Chhatrasal could earn glory and greatness to get his name inscribed in golden letters in history.

Conclusion: High esteem, positive thinking and good character always bring glory and greatness.

Upakhyan (Anecdote 2):

A huge volcano erupted once near Pompei city in Rome. The eruption was so powerful that the entire city was devastated and buried under the ash from the volcano.

After a long period of over 1750 years this incident remained as a faint picture described in the pages of history. None knew that Pompei lay buried under the sand till geologists excavated the area and discovered the remains of the beautiful city.

At the time of eruptions and earthquakes some of the residents had written down memoirs of the tragedy. These memoirs were found in excavations and are now preserved. It is written in these memoirs, "When the eruptions occurred people began to flee. They ran to save their lives. Some died while trying to escape and some survived. While fleeing some people came across a
guard standing at the gate of the royal palace. They asked him to join them, but he refused and replied that his duty does not allow him to leave the gate unguarded. Wearing his royal-guard-attire he stood there unmoved and got buried in the ash along with the grand city."

The excavations continued and when geologists discovered the royal gate, a skeleton was found standing there. A royal badge and a sword was found on the skeleton. If the guard wished he could have also escaped with others, but
quite obviously his sense of duty had prevented him from doing this.

This skeleton was royally felicitated in Rome and the entire nation paid homage to it. Centuries have passed but that devoted guard of Rome still stands erect. His skeleton still preaches to all the viewers - never run away from your duty, because man's dignity lies in his devotion to duty.

SADVICHAR (Thought of the week):
