PRAGYA SANDESH – 21st Century, Bright Future
(A weekly periodical by All World Gayatri Pariwar Youth Group,
Bangalore Branch)
www.awgp.org

Objective of the Periodical:

The root causes of the ailing state of the world today are – the crisis of faith, people’s ignorance of the powers of the inner self, and the lack of righteous attitude. These have evaporated the oceans of joy from people’s life and polluted them with ever increasing insecurities, infirmities and complexities. Realizing the hidden power of thoughts is very important in the present era of intellectual evolution. This periodical will serve as a vehicle for thought transformation for the revival of Satyug - the divine era.

 SATSANKALP (Divine resolve):
There are 18 satsankalp. As per Pt. Shriram Sharma Acharya they correspond to 18 chapters of GEETA. We learnt about the second in the last edition. Given below is the fifth of eighteen.

Apne Aap Ko Samaaj Ka Ek Abhinn Ang Maanenge Aur Sabke Hit Mein Apna Hit Samjhenge

Meaning: We shall consider ourselves as integral part of society and also welfare of others as our own.

 UPAKHYAN (Anecdote):
Lord Brahma, the presiding deity of creation, created all the living species. He asked man; the highest of all living beings on Earth: “What is your future ambition”? Man replied, “I’m certainly very intelligent but I want to progress more & more in wisdom to the extent that no one could equal me”. Brahmaji gave him two bags and said “ keep them suspended from your neck. Be always on the look out for the virtues of others and collect them in the bag in the front. Do not notice your own plus points; deposit them in the bag on the back, out of your sight. This way your wisdom will keep on increasing”.

Man was pleased but he did exactly opposite to the instructions given. Consequently, he always brags about his own actual and imagined merits and learns nothing from the virtues of others. He did become intelligent but within the narrow confines of his own perception.

Conclusion: Many of us commit this folly and instead of augmenting the potency and quality of our own intellect by learning from others, we remain engrossed in self praise.

SADVICHAR (Thought of the week):
Failure indicates half hearted effort towards success
